Rich to Poor
By Sophia Abbas
Our story begins with 2 brothers. One named Noah, another named Raymond.
Raymond and Noah go to the Same college but afterward, Raymond gets very poor.
Mother and Father have been dead for a while now, so Raymond can’t do anything but beg on the cold streets of New York.
Noah, on the other hand, is doing very well. He has a family of 5. Himself, his wife, and his 3 kids. Noah is the owner of a very famous company, so he has a lot of money.
Multiple times Raymond walks 30 kilometers out of his way to Noah’s house, begging for just 10 dollars to buy him some food, but Noah always responded with the same response: “Go get a job.”.
One day, he trades 5 dollars to borrow a suit for a job interview. He goes there, where he is accepted in.
The interviewer said that there was something different in Raymond, so he got accepted. After half a month, he moved from being on the streets to a small shed.
2 months later he buys a room in an apartment. Raymond has to work overtime almost every day, and the monthly apartment bill is $2,000.
Raymond gets a higher role in his company, from a software engineer to a product manager.
Noah is not doing so well. In the span of 3 months, his company has lost most of its users. They have all moved to Raymond’s company. Noah now has to move into an apartment, a small one. Only 2 beds. The baby and the wife sleep in the first one, the other 2 children sleep in the other, and Noah sleeps on the couch.
Raymond’s company makes a lot of money! Raymond now has a 1-floor house. One day, Raymond goes on a jog. He bumps into a girl named Emerald and immediately apologizes. They talk for a little bit. They meet every day on a hill at 7:30 PM. One day, Raymond saves enough to buy a wedding ring and proposes. Emerald in tears, says “YES!”.
They have their wedding which her family pays for. Emerald gets a job as a nurse in the local hospital. They both move into a 3-floor house.
Noah now is in someone's garage, where his family sleeps, eats, and goes to the bathroom. Noah has to sell his phone to pay rent to the owner of the garage.
Raymond has devoted so much to the company, he now owns 45% of the company. At this point, Raymond is rich. He has a pool, 4 floors, a chef, and lovely clothes.
Noah now is on the streets, where Noah now walks 30 kilometers out of his way, to make it to Raymond's house where he cries: “Oh, brother! Please help! Please, just 10 dollars!”. Raymond looks down at his younger brother on his knees and smirks. “Go get a job.” he says.
